Capacity Building Most people in the developing world live in rural areas. Commonly, there may be no physicians or nearby health post. Communication tools such as radio, television, Internet, billboards, and reading materials in local languages, which is so vital to preventive health education can just reach only few rural communities. It is upon these background that World Technical Volunteers in partnership of professional staff, trained volunteers, and other community supporters are delivering HIV/AIDS prevention programs from village to village via remote roads, footpaths, streams and rivers with video documentary in local language translations on the spread of HIV/AIDS and its prevention. World Technical Volunteers also works with other partner organizations to conduct HIV testing and medication to affected patients. This program has been one of the successful HIV prevention programs because it gets to the most people who need it in remote areas and also attract a lot of people as a source of entertainment. Community based organizations and school groups are also empowered in the improvement of HIV/AIDS policies and programs for prevention, care and support in order to effectively meet the needs of their communities. In Sub-Saharan Africa, World Technical Volunteers is establishing such HIV/AIDS awareness programs with local Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other community based organizations.
Children &Youth Programs World Technical Volunteers is working with other international and local organizations to enrich the lives of kids and youth for better opportunities and success in the future through important life-long programs. Our team manages and operates its domestic and international learn and play programs through the following:
Focus on early childhood with health education and any necessary material support
Providing positive leaning environment and feedback for children
Linking schools with communities to provide voluntary and technical assistance
Supporting youth camps and day care centers with early leaning materials
Distribution of donated school materials to needy community schools
Computer and vocational training
International youth exchange programs
As children are more likely to retain information learned when they are engaged in an enjoyable and meaningful activity, WTV also provide Kids Visual Leaning programs which helps Kids learn new concepts through visual tools.
Program Implementation Currently World Technical Volunteers is implementing long-term programs in terms of collaborations with local NGOs in number of countries including Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Ghana, India, and Uganda.
