Johannas' experience in Ghana

Johanna is a university student in France. She stayed in Ghana for 4 weeks and volunteered in
a rural school projects.
Johanna said, "
This is my first trip to Africa, but the things I'm seeing with my naked eyes are
not the negative stuff we have been watching on TV world wide about Africa.
Ghanaians are so nice to be described.  I'm coming back next year for more weeks.
Claire and Theresa's trip to Ghana

Here are two best friends from France enjoying their volunteers orientation on malaria at WPD's
local office in Ghana. Claire and Theresa cried like babies when they were leaving their host
families and Ghana behind. They sent an email saying,
"Volunteer teaching in Ghana was
amazing, words cannot describe the experiences and culture you see and do on this volunteer
project. It's quite difficult to come back to France, it seems to be so boring and i miss Ghana a
lot".
Antoine's volunteer work with WPD

The whole trip from France to Ghana was GREAT... working in the school, the kids, meeting new,
interesting and like minded Ghanaians, living in the community and being able to really
experienced the environment and culture... I could talk, and talk, and talk!
It was an experience I will never forget and left me so hungry for more. I just wish all my friends
and family members could share my joy and understand what I'm talking about!

The Production Manager of GNG, who was part of the team to Ghana wrote to WPD:

We all had the most amazing experience in Ghana. Every interaction was meaningful. We were met with such warmth
and generosity from your partners on the ground to the person next to me on the 'tro tro' (a local transport)

Thanks again for all your help!

Best,

Joanna
Mrs. Erica's help to Ghanaian children, 2010

Mrs. Erica Ankrah, a manager at the Whole Foods in Fairfax, Virginia, USA recently visited Ghana
and volunteered in rural community schools to empower them in reading and other activities.  She
said , volunteering to help kids for a better future has great reward.
Lauren Hundman, Chicago, USA. My volunteer experience in Ghana, 2010
WPD was very attentive and organized in the process of finding me a volunteer placement.  They
were able to work with my specific needs, and were very communicative throughout the whole
process.  Ghana was a very eye opening experience for me.  It was very interesting to see how a
primary school is run differently, and the different teaching techniques used.  The children were a
joy to work with and were so excited to have a foreigner helping to teach them.  I am very glad I
was able to experience this side of Ghana outside of the typical site seeing.
